The  research in the Aquatic Ecology and Toxicology  group originated experime-ntally from the concept „Cell und Environment". Its focus is the risk assessment of chemicals as well as the assessment of damage caused to the environment..  The main research topics are cytotoxicity, bacterial toxicity, genotoxicity, endo-crine effects, embryo toxicity, biotransformation, histology, integrative environ-mental assesment and the examination of changes in fish populations under the effect of pollutants.  For this purpose an array of various in vitro- and vivo tests  are applied.

We wish to congratulate Dr. Caren Pauler for receiving the Hintermann & Weber research award for ecological consultation, planning and research for her studies on the grazing and mobility of different cattle breeds and their influence on pasture vegetation.
